Many of us have been engaged with computing, networks, communications, and varied technologies for more than a few decades. In the spirit of progress, convergence, and thoughtful review, this session will engage the community in a brief review of information and communication technologies from the mid-1980s as a baseline for moving into the future.
Presently, cyberinfrastructure includes technological infrastructures as well as human resources. As we move forward, many of the aspirations of the past will manifest in new and unexpected ways. This presentation will provide a broad view of some directions and possibilities from the physical to the analog to the digital.
