Making Online Transactions Legal and Secure with Electronic Signatures
Monday
May 16th, 2005
11:20 AM - 12:10 PM
Castle Peak I/II
Session Type: Track 4
The federal E-Sign Act permits the use of electronic records in place of paper records in many transactions, and many states have adopted the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, which has the same purpose. Together these laws establish standards for the acceptance and use of electronic records and signatures. This presentation will discuss relevant state and federal laws; how to assess campus transactions; the impact on campus culture and IT policy; and how to best implement these provisions.
