Academic leadership and information technology publications are filled with articles on institutional transformation. Do institutional leaders actually set out to achieve transformation as a declared goal, or is transformation merely a byproduct of other processes? If transformation is to be a goal, how can institutional leadership give it substance and direction? Is transformation desirable? Is it controllable?
