Notes for the June 4-5, 1997 NLII-ITP Symposium on Creating and Delivering Collegiate Learning Materials in a Distributed (Networked) Learning Environment

Abstract

This is a pre-symposium paper from the June 1997 Educom-ITP symposium report examining the four-phase process of creating learning materials and using them in credit-bearing courses: content assembly, marketing and distribution, inclusion in the academic program, and certification of the learning results. In the current model, the publishing world owns the first two phases and higher education owns the second two. This white paper examines the question of whether we can create a new business partnership model that builds on the strengths of both communities. This paper was originally published by Educom.
