Abstract
Two bills introduced in 2011, the Senate’s Protect IP Act (PIPA) and the House’s Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), would have direct and potentially negative implications for our campus communities if enacted. Because of this, EDUCAUSE Policy has been active in monitoring, analyzing, and advocating against their passage as currently written. This policy brief from Joan Cheverie, EDUCAUSE Policy Specialist, provides a chronology of events and EDUCAUSE’s involvement throughout the process.
