Play It Again, Sam!: Online Courses and Materials

Thursday, January 1, 2004

Montgomery County Community College has a breadth of students with a wide range of learning abilities, styles, and needs. Some students have difficulty keeping up and remaining engaged while taking notes; others are distance learners in need of online access to all elements of classroom teaching. Instructors want students to have round-the-clock access to class notes and discussions to identify a specific point, and, ideally, to be able to review the entire class session online. Online students need to actually see and hear class content. We determined it would be greatly beneficial if instructors could record not only SMART Board activity but also the audio portion of the class. We also wanted to create minimally sized recorded classroom files that could be easily accessed by students remotely.
