Preparing for the Future: Predictions, Practice, and Pragmatism

Abstract

How do higher education institutions prepare themselves for an uncertain future? A host of emerging capabilities may alter our current practices. For example, how will learning communities, transformative assessment and e-portfolios impact the existing IT infrastructure and support system? What new policies, funding streams and faculty adoption strategies will be required? This session will begin by drawing a vision of the future, based on today's leading-edge practices and technology futures. The session will then focus on a pragmatic view of what institutions can do to ensure they are prepared for the future.
