Presentation given by Matt Davy (Network Architect, Indiana University and Director, InCNTRE) at the NSF-funded meeting, "GENI Layer2/Software-Defined Networking Campus Deployment Workshop," held July 7, 2011 in Boston, Mass. This presentation provides a tutorial of sorts of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and OpenFlow.

This is an excellent document, folks. Really timely and on-the-money.

Interestingly, there is one element I found missing, that of any discussion on privacy concerns. They are big in Canada, with the fear of US prying eyes. But the IT industry is driving us all in this direction and the economics of hosting systems on campus as we've done in the past is unsustainable and impractical looking forward. Those who see and adapt will have significant competitive advantage  in the years ahead.
