The University of Calgary Degree Audit Implementation Empower the Student

Abstract

This paper describes the University of Calgary's purchased degree audit system, called Degree Navigator. The paper discusses the University's process for selection, implementation, and the launching of this new system in less than twelve months. The system is a fully functional degree audit system designed for hands on use by both students and advisors. The use of visualization software provides a very innovative user interface that is easy to learn; almost no keyboarding is needed. The software runs on IBM compatible PCs. A Web browser interface will be added later in 1997 to provide remote access and interfaces for Macs and other desktop machines capable of running a Web browser.
