Using Regional Cooperation and Technology to Achieve Cost Savings: The Midwestern Higher Education Commission

Abstract

The Midwestern Higher Education Commission (MHEC) was established to advance higher education in the midwest through interstate cooperation. This article describes the successes of MHECis Academic Scheduling and Management Software program, its Internet activities for both regional information sharing and internal committee work, its Virtual Private Network for voice and data communications, and its Interactive Video Program for distance learning equipment, all of which create cost savings and enhance the exchange of information.
