Web Services Framework (WSF) Standards: The Interoperability Framework for Service-Oriented Architecture

Thursday, November 18, 2004

"Web Services Framework (WSF) Standards: The Interoperability Framework for Service-Oriented Architecture" is a Research Report prepared by Burton Group, an ECAR partner. It is available to ECAR subscribers through special arrangement. This 52-page report discusses how the evolving WSF suite of standards -- including Extensible Markup Language (XML), the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Web Services Description Language (WSDL), and Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI) -- supports a truly platform-independent language-independent, loosely coupled approach to service integration. The core WSF standards address simple integration scenarios well, but consensus standards haven't yet been implemented for reliable messaging, notification, and transactions.
