Biography

L. Amy Blum is Campus Counsel for the University of California, Los Angeles. In that capacity she advises the Administration on a broad range of matters, including computer security and notification requirements, standard and on-line copyright compliance, Information Practices Act, Public Records Act, FERPA and other privacy issues; First Amendment and time, place and manner policies, academic personnel policy compliance and misconduct for general campus and medical enterprise; student affairs and student misconduct; employment discrimination and other personnel matters; disability accommodation and discrimination relating to employees, students and the public; gifts-in-kind; license and service agreements, among other things. Ms. Blum also serves on the UCLA Advisory Board on Privacy and Data Protection. Prior to joining The Regents of the University of California in 2004, Ms. Blum was a litigation partner in the Los Angeles office of Reed Smith, L.L.P. and was the Southern California Market Trial Practice Group Leader. Ms. Blum specialized in business disputes, including claims relating to contracts, interference with business relations, trade secrets, non-competition agreements, intellectual property disputes, and unfair competition. Since 2006, Ms. Blum has been a member of the Legal Education Committee for the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA). Ms. Blum received a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz and graduated summa cum laude with a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.
