Biography
Education
Amy earned a M.Ed. in Instructional Systems from Penn State and a B.S. in Education from Penn State.
Biography
Amy's current work focuses heavily on the design and development of courses for the Masters of Professional Studies (MPS) in Information Sciences and the MPS in Homeland Security. Amy also works closely with the Office of Learning Initiatives and Instructional Assessment (https://collab.ist.psu.edu/learning/ ) to assist in improving teaching and learning in the resident IST and SRA undergraduate courses. Amy serves on various University-wide teaching, learning, and online education committees.
Research and Teaching Interests
Amy provides teaching and learning support for undergraduate, graduate, and certificate courses in the resident, blended, and distance environment. Amy is interested in sharing innovative resources and solutions to make educational and instructional experiences more exciting and meaningful.
Professional Experience
Amy Garbrick is the Director of the Office of Instructional Design and Infrastructure, College of Information Sciences and Technology, Penn State - University Park campus. Previously, she was a Senior Instructional Designer and eLearning Coordinator with the Office of Learning Initiatives. From 2002 to 2008, she was an Instructional Designer and eLearning Coordinator with the IST Solutions Institute where she designed and developed courses for corporate partners as well as for the IST undergraduate program. Prior to her work at IST, she was an Instructional Designer with the Penn State Smeal College of Business R.I.I.T. (Research, Instruction, and Information Technology) Group. She was also a Microcomputer Systems Consultant with the R.I.I.T. Group within Smeal College.
Teaching Experience
Amy has taught IST 111 and IST 110 online many times.
