Brian joined the University of Alberta as Executive Program Director of the Campus Alberta Unified Services (CAUS)Program in 2013. CAUS is a Government of Alberta sponsored shared services initiative, the central objective of which is for the U of Alberta to provide ERP and related business services to post secondary institutions in Alberta. Brian is also responsible for Information Services and Technology (IST) Project and Organisational Change Management capabilities, and is currently the acting Deputy CIO at the University of Alberta.

Brian's role is to work with his peer executive group to provide strategic leadership to the application of Information and communications technology (ICT) to the activities of the University. Current initiatives include the introduction of inclusive and responsive IT governance, development of portfolio management, Organisational change management and the introduction of Lean operations.

Brian also plays an active role in the Post Secondary ICT Community, he was the Board Chair for the Association of Alberta for Higher Education Information Technology and the Alberta Post secondary Application System (APAS) CIO's Group. Brian also has published on the use of ICT in printing and education and is an active contributor to Educause forums and publications.

Brian is a PMP and holds an MA in Economics from University College Cork in Ireland and a MBA from Athabasca University.
