Biography
Bruce Maas is the CIO and Vice Provost for Information Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has served the University of Wisconsin System in a diversity of roles over a career of more than 30 years, including Campus Budget Manager, Assistant Dean for Business Affairs, PeopleSoft Student System Project Manager, Deputy CIO, UW System Service Center Transition Coordinator, and CIO at two UW institutions.
Bruce has served as the Director of the EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute, a faculty member of the institute, and as chair of the Midwest EDUCAUSE conference. Presently, he is serving a 4 year term on the EDUCAUSE Board from 2012 to 2016. Bruce is a member of the Internet2 External Relations Advisory Committee, and serves as the co-PI of two NSF infrastructure grants. He is an active presenter at EDUCAUSE conferences, and believes strongly in the importance of organized employee development. He is a strong advocate for central and distributed IT collaborations and partnerships. Bruce is focused on the core mission of teaching, learning, service and research at the University of Wisconsin and believes it is a distinct privilege to serve that mission.
