Carlyn Chatfield is the Manager for IT Technical Communications at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Her role at the university encompasses the distribution of IT messages to broad and targeted campus audiences, managing the IT web sites, acting as press liaison, creating and implementing marketing campaigns for IT initiatives, coordinating focus groups and discussion forums to gather customer input and feed-back, and researching data for annual benchmarking comparisons.

After experimenting with several other careers, she discovered her calling in higher education in 1987. Since that time, she has worked for proprietary, public, and private institutions in admissions, financial aid, business analysis, and information technology (IT) communications. During her transition at Rice from the financial aid department to the IT division, she authored the book "Financial Aid 101" for Thompsons/Peterson's. Carlyn completed her BBA in Marketing, summa cum laude, at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
