Chad Kainz is a Solutions Director within Education Services by Blackboard focused on the effective use of enterprise systems, educational technology and mobility to support learning and teaching. For nearly two decades, he has explored how information technology and digital media can best support the creation and sharing of knowledge and ideas in virtual, mobile and physical contexts.

Prior to Blackboard, he worked at the University of Chicago (1992-2010) serving in a number of capacities including as the Assistant Chief Information Technology Officer and Executive Director for Campus & Academic Services, co-directed and was co-PI of Project Bamboo (2008-2010), and participated in the IEEE Learning Technology Standards Committee (1998-2007) where he served as its vice-chair for four years. Additionally, he has participated in organizations such as CNI, EDUCAUSE, Committee on Institutional Cooperation, Ivy Plus, NITLE and Sakai, and served on the international advisory board of the CLARIN Project of the European Union and on the EDUCAUSE 2009 Program Committee.
