Daniel Noonan, a 2007 Frye Institute Fellow, is an Assistant Professor and e-Records/Digital Resources Archivist for The Ohio State University Libraries. Reporting to the University Archivist, and in collaboration with the campus IT community, he assists in the design, evaluation, and implementation of electronic recordkeeping systems; provides counsel to academic and administrative offices in electronic records management and preservation best practices; advocates for necessary resources; and develops strategies for long-term preservation and access to electronic records of enduring value. Mr. Noonan is a member of the OSU Library's Web Governance Committee and Digital Reformatting Workgroup. His outside professional commitments include serving as the liaison between the Society of American Archivists' Standards Committee and the Electronic Records Section, OSU's representative to and Past-Chair of the , and was re-appointed to the Ohio Historical Records Advisory Board in the Spring of 2014. His is currently on the Steering Committee and a member of the faculty of the Archives Leadership Institute.

Previously, Mr. Noonan has taught "Foundations and Administration of Archives" as an adjunct professor for Kent State University, and served the State of New Jersey's Division of Archives & Records Management as their chief consultant to state and local agencies regarding electronic records management and preservation, and document conversion. He has also served as the Digital Documents Librarian and Archivist for the New Jersey Institute of Technology and spent thirteen years as a fixed assets valuation consultant to the public sector and private industry.

Dan is an active member of a variety of professional associations including the Midwest Archives Conference, Society of American Archivists, and ARMA International (Greater Columbus Chapter). Has has presented extensively on the topics of electronic records management, digital preservation, and document conversion to the Society of American Archivists, Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference, Midwest Archives Conference, EDUCAUSE, and other professional associations. Further, he was the lead author on the 2014 American Archivist article "Data Curation and the University Archives", the 2010 D-Lib Magazine article PDF/A: A Viable Addition to the Preservation Toolkit, and a contributing author to the 2004 NECCC whitepaper Challenges in Managing Records in the 21st Century and their 2005 Government Decision Makers Guide to RFID, and was a major contributor to the ARMA International Glossary of Records and Information Management Terms, 3rd Edition.
