George Farah

Biography

George Farah is Queen's University IT Security Manager/Officer located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He plays a significant role in strategic planning, IT security architecture, governance, policy and standards development, risk management, IT legal compliance, Information security privacy and compliance, information security organizational development, security integration in information systems aquisition and software development. George is in charge of design and implementation of University information security long term strategy and program. George provides advice and direction on all facets of information security and IT privacy to all constituents faculty, staff, students and researchers in addition to IT security legal and compliance in the course of IT delivery. George also provides advice/recommendations and direction to faculty and researchers on protection of research information assets and intellectual property. provides advice and recommendations on all aspects of information security to two teaching hospitals and medical outpatient facilities on campus. George's experience includes, but not limited to, design and implementation of a information security strategic plan, IT and informtion security governance, risk and compliance, information technology security architecure for several commercial and education sectors in Canada and US, ERP security design and implementation (PeopleSoft and SAP), building information security departments from the ground up for various organizations, building information security operations including access control. Design and implementation of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, incident handling and response, IT forensics, and technical project management. In coordination with legal counsel provides direction and recomemndations on IT privacy legislation and plays a major role in shaping IT privacy practice and process. George is GIAC GSEC Gold, CRISC and CISA certified.
