Biography

Hideko Mills is the Acting Director for Special Projects from the Office of the VP for ITS & CTO at California State University - Los Angeles.

Reporting directly to the Vice President for ITS & CTO, her responsibilities include project and communications management; compliance, integrity and efficiency management; strategic planning; disaster recovery and business continuity management; financial management; professional standards and operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Prior to her role as Acting Director for Special Projects at CSULA, she served for over 2 years as Manager of IT Research Infrastructure for the Office of the VP for IT & CIO at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she was responsible for the development, delivery, and/or coordination of UW-Madison research computing infrastructure services. This included developing and executing a campus research infrastructure computing strategy, consulting with staff on campus initiatives, identifying emerging advanced research computing needs, partnering with decentralized IT staff to develop new advanced research computing solutions, allocating resources and prioritizing projects.

She also served as Assistant Director of Campus Network Services for seven years at UW-Madison. As Assistant Director, she directed and managed the operational, financial, and personnel activities of the Campus Network Services Group. She also helped to frame research computing strategy for the UW-Madison central IT organization. Prior to UW-Madison, she served as Manager of Dial Installation Engineering managing network engineers in the private sector and worked in management positions in the cable television industry.

Hideko served on various Educause Advanced Core Technologies Initiatives Committees and was an active member of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation Research Computing Group (CIC-IT-RCG).
