Biography
J. Alex Lang leads a very talented team of 13 consultants & managers who maintain the end-user computing environment & provide customer computing support for administrative departments at Carnegie Mellon. In this role, he is responsible for financial, operational, and strategic planning, developing training plans, optimizing and documenting processes, and aligning technology direction with business needs.
Previously, Alex served as Director of Information Technology for Campus Services at Carnegie Mellon, where he was responsible for planning, budgeting, and staffing for a boutique IT/business analysis shop supporting $60M of retail gross revenue per year: campus housing, dining, retail, parking, printing, and events management. Alex's past experience includes Unix and Windows systems administration, webmaster, business analyst, and web developer. Alex holds a Master of Science in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon's Heinz School of Public Policy & Management.
