Biography
James "Sonny" Kirtley serves as the Director of Data and Software Solutions at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. His team manages the Banner ERP system, the underlying Oracle technology stack, and provides software development services to address institute needs not met by the existing software suite. His team has contributed their software solutions to other Banner schools around the world, some of which are now incorporated into the product itself.
James' IT career has moved between Higher Ed and the corporate world, but since 2001, he is happily engaged in the business behind the business of higher education. Before that, he worked at Columbia House Company, Yeshiva University, and Computer Sciences Corporation. His education is in physics (B.S, M.S., University of Kentucky), a field of study that provides solid preparation for the problem-solving demands of our profession.
James participated in the 2015 Educause Institute Management Program in Philadelphia.
