Biography
John Bax has been with the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) for over 6 years and currently serves as Director of Information Technology after successfully serving as the Interim Chief Information Officer for almost a year. He has a MS in Information Technology Management and BS in Power Technology with over 25 years of experience with government, education, health, business, and technology planning and management.
He is a past Vice President of Financial Affairs for the local Project Management Institute (PMI) chapter and secretary for the local InfraGard chapter also serving as an ex-officio member of the board of directors. John has served as a member of the State of Missouri, Governor'Âs Homeland Security Council's (HSC) Business Continuity task force and assisted the Cyber Security task force. He has also served his local community as a city alderman and planning and zoning commissioner and continues to remain involved with various local groups.
John is a decorated retiree of the MO National Guard after serving 23 years; lastly being assigned to the MO National Guard Directorate of Information Management and previously holding a "Top Secret SCI"Â security clearance. In the MO National Guard, he was trained and served as an IT consultant, Helicopter Crew Chief, Flight Medic, Field Medic, and Medical Laboratory Technician.
John has been recognized by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) as a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), by the Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII) as a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), by Boston University as being certified in Project Management, and by the State of Missouri as a certified Missouri Project Manager (MPM). He has and is often requested to present on IT, Security, DR/BC, Project, Program and Strategic, Tactical and Operational Planning, Management and Architectures.
John is 52 years of age, a native of Mid-Missouri and believes in traditional and timeless values. He is married (for over 20 years) with 3 teenage children (one in and 2 prepping for Higher Education opportunities). John strives to ensure the right things are done for the right reasons, at the right time, and in the right way. John is a leader who serves as needed for what is needed.
