Biography

Joe St Sauver, Ph.D., is Manager, Internet2 Nationwide Security Programs and Manager, InCommon Certificate Service, under contract through the University of Oregon.

Joe is active in a variety of national and international cyber security efforts, including serving on the Educause/Internet2 Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC) Leadership Team; the REN-ISAC Technical Advisory Group; and the Educause Technologies, Operations and Practices ("TOP") Working Group (formerly the Security Effective Practices Working Group).

Joe's one of half a dozen Senior Technical Advisors for M3AAWG (the Messaging, Mobile and Malware Anti-Abuse Working Group), whose membership includes companies servicing over a billion mailboxes worldwide. Joe's also a strategic advisor and professional member of the Online Trust Alliance (OTA), a member of the board for the Coalition Against Unsolicited Email (CAUCE), and one of three members of the Team Cymru Dragon Research Group Advisory Council.

Joe routinely writes and presents on a variety of cyber security topics. Recent topics have included multifactor authentication, botnet metrics, security architectures, PKI/client certificates, SOPA/PIPA, malware analysis, SSL certificates, physical security, disaster recovery, cloud computing security, securing mobile devices, the botnet problem in India, registrars and malicious domains, DNS Security and DNSSEC, and IPv6 security, among many others.
