Biography

I have been CIO and Vice President of Harvey Mudd College since February 2008.

Prior to that I was Director of the UCLA Center for Digital Humanities and Humanities CIO (2001-2008).

Between 1994 and 2001 I managed multiple Humanities departments at UCLA and before that I owned and ran an English school in Madrid, Spain.

I hold a B.A. (1985) in Philosophy and Psychology from Trinity College, Dublin and M.A. (1987) and C.Phil (1994) in Philosophy from UCLA.

I was a Frye Leadership Institute Fellow in 2004 and 2005. I have served on the Educause Jane N. Ryland Fellowship Committee, the Educause Quarterly Editorial Board, the Educause IT Issues Committte, and the Educause Annual Conference 2013 Program Committee. I have served on the Board of Los Nettos since 2008.

Even more than working at Harvey Mudd, I like hanging out with my wife Susan and our three children Aibhlin (8), Rowan (6) and Milo (4). And whenever there's time left from all that, I crew on racing sailboats.
