Biography

Karen Herrington holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Mississippi State University and has approximately 30 years of work experience in Information Technology, with 20 of those years being spent in the higher education arena. At Virginia Tech, she has served as both a manager of an operational Identity Management Services unit and subsequently, as the Director of Identity Strategy & Administration where she facilitated the planning and delivery of strategic enterprise identity and access solutions. Most recently, Ms. Herrington was appointed to the role of Director of IT Data Analytics & Visualization where she will be developing metrics and visualizations to inform executive, operational, and security decisions within the Division of Information Technology.
