Biography

Dr. Kelvin Bentley has over 13 years of experience leading online learning initiatives at the director and dean levels at 2- and 4-year institutions. Dr. Bentley earned a PhD from the University of Delaware in 1999 with a major area concentration in clinical psychology. He became involved in online courses when he developed his first online courses in 2001 when he served as the coordinator of the first fully online Bachelor of Science program in Psychology at Northwestern State University.

Dr. Bentley's professional interests include quality assurance in online education, learning analytics, and best practices in instructional design. Dr. Bentley has been active as a Quality Matters peer reviewer since 2006 and he has served as a consultant in online education working with companies such as Eduventures, Blackboard, and most recently, Acatar, a new educational technology start-up company helping schools like Carnegie Mellon University develop new online courses and programs.

Dr. Bentley's most recent honors include serving on the Fulbright Specialist roster for 2010-2015 and being selected to be a Fulbright Specialist who offered faculty workshops on best practices in online course design, development and facilitation at the University of Antioquia in Medellin, in September 2010.
