Kenneth L. Servis is Dean of Academic Records and Registrar and Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Southern California. Dr. Servis received his Ph.D. degree from the California Institute of Technology (1965) and his B.S. degree from Purdue University (1961). He has been a member of the faculty at the University of Southern California since 1965 and had visiting appointments at the University of Zagreb, Bell Laboratories, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Institute Rudjer Boshkovic. Dr. Servis has served as Dean of Academic Records and Registrar since 1989. From 1987 to 1991 he served as University Marshal. From 1970 to 1983 he was a member of the Faculty Senate Executive Board and served as President of the Senate in 1981.

Dr. Servis has published more that 50 articles in scholarly journals on a variety of topics in physical organic chemistry and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. His research includes applications of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy in the study of reactive intermediates; use of in-vivo NMR spectroscopy in non-invasive organ monitoring of drug bio-distribution and metabolism; and the study of conformational interconversion itineraries of organic compounds through the use of temperature dependent NMR spectroscopy.

Dr. Servis has served as a referee for articles in numerous scholarly journals and has reviewed proposals for the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, the Croatian Chemical Society, and the Petroleum Research Foundation. He has been a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Chemical Society, the International Society of Magnetic Resonance, and the Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.

Dr. Servis has been honored with an Alfred B. Sloan Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Fulbright Fellowship and has received the Diploma of Honor from Phi Kappa Phi. He is a member of the Skull and Dagger Society and of Phi Kappa Phi. Dean Servis has been active in the public sector as a planning commissioner, councilman and mayor of Rolling Hills Estates, as vice-president of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and as a member of the board of trustees of the San Pedro Peninsula Hospital. He is married to Harriet Servis, Retired Associate Director of the USC Emeriti Center, and has a son and two daughters, all of whom received bachelor's degrees from USC.

As Dean of Academic Records and Registrar, Dr. Servis serves as the custodian of record for student academic records and is responsible for the maintenance and integrity of current and historical academic records. He provides advice on matters related to academic records, curricular records, grading policies and procedures, and policies related to degree programs and requirements. Since his appointment as dean, numerous innovative services have been instituted for USC students including: STARS (progress to degree reports), TOUCHUSC (information kiosks), OASIS (on-line access to student information services), Degree Navigator (visual catalogue and degree requirement tool) , Transcript Express (transcript ordering with voice response and internet access and in-person, on demand) and Web Registration.
