Kevin L. Reeve (Utah State University)
Kevin Reeve is the Enterprise Architect at Utah State University.
He is also Responsible for Marketing and Communications, with a self proclaimed title of "Head Explainer of Things."
Kevin is a "big picture" person with a 20 year broad background in Information Technology, including systems administration, instructional design, multimedia/video production, presentation technologies, project management, marketing, and communications. As the Enterprise Architect, he is responsible for knowing the strategic vision and goals of University leaders, and works to insure that IT is an innovator and solution provider to help the University meet those goals. Kevin is responsible for strategic communication for Information Technology. He works to make sure his 32,000 customers are well informed about IT services & systems. He has spent the last two years focusing on IT needs of students, finding pain points, and working with others to make IT a better experience for all.
Kevin was responsible for bringing the first LMS to campus. As the Manger for the Faculty Assistance Center for Teaching, he and his team were responsible for helping faculty build innovative online and hybrid courses. He served on the LMS Executive committee, which provided leadership and oversight for the migration to Instructure Canvas, a cloud based LMS. He is responsible for introducing closed captioning, streaming media, and e-learning systems to Utah State University.
His LMS, e-learning, and multimedia expertise has taken him across North America to over 20 Universities and Colleges where he has provided training and implementation services.
His current area of research is with wireless presentation technologies.
Kevin has been teaching online and hybrid University courses since 2001 for the Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences Department. His online course "Internet Development" was recognized as an exemplary course in the WebCT exemplary course program. Kevin is a popular presenter and speaker for both Higher Education and Community audiences.
Kevin is a member of the EDUCAUSE IT Communicators (ITCOMM), and the IT Architects in Academia (ITANA)
He serves on the LMS Executive, Emergency Planning, Campus Americans with Disabilities, and Department Teaching in Excellence Award committees at USU. He is a licensed Amateur Radio Operator with the callsign of N7RXE, and loves to build electronic projects, and work on his HO scale model railroad in his spare time.
He is the co-founder and a mentor of successful STEM Maker club for youth ages 11 - 15 with a focus on "Building the Future," around programming, robotics, and the arduino micro-controller.
