Biography
Laura McCain Patterson is the Associate Vice President for Information Technology Security Services and Administrative Information Services at the University of Michigan. She led the University-wide implementation of financial, student administration, and human resource management ERP systems from 1998 2001, replacing almost all of the Universitys core business applications and infrastructure and transforming the support organization for administrative systems.,P.Patterson joined the University of Michigan in 1993 as the University Registrar. Prior to joining U-M, she served as Registrar at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire from 1982-93. She was the Registrar and Director of Academic Advising and a member of the faculty at Franklin College of Indiana from 1978-82. At all three institutions she led projects that leveraged technology for strategic advancement, innovation in services, and improvements in operations.
Patterson holds bachelors and masters degrees from Indiana University and completed graduate work at the University of Minnesota. She has many publications and has made numerous presentations at professional associations of student service providers, information technology professionals, and user groups. She is a Computer World Smithsonian Laureate and was named a Top Michigan Woman in Computing in 2005.
Patterson and her husband, Rex, have three children. She is an avid runner and cyclist.
