Lisa Gesner (EDUCAUSE)
Lisa has been with EDUCAUSE since 2002 and has helped shape the association'Âs marketing presence with EDUCAUSE leadership. Previously the Director of Marketing Communications, she now holds the position of Market Manager with a focus on EDUCAUSE research programs and services, including the EDUCAUSE Center for Analysis and Research and the Core Data Service. Her marketing management portfolio also includes CIO activities at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference and EDUCAUSE Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) and Administrative IT programs. Lisa collaborates with members and EDUCAUSE colleagues to ensure that the association understands the evolving role and needs of the higher education CIO and offers products, programs, and services to meet those needs.
Lisa's specialties include writing, dot-connecting, and the ability to both strategize and execute effective marketing campaigns that include product positioning, marketing communications, and analytics. Her role includes staff management and extensive collaboration with operational teams and subject matter experts. She is noted for successful management of multiple concurrent and high-profile projects in a fast-paced environment dedicated to strategic innovation.
Lisa participated in the 2007 EDUCAUSE Institute Management Program and recommends the program to all aspiring managers in higher education. Prior to joining EDUCAUSE, she worked in the book industry for more than 10 years, with stints in marketing, publishing, editing, and bookselling on national and local levels. As Senior Marketing Manager for netLibrary (now a division of EBSCO), Lisa was involved with the introduction of e-books into academic and public libraries. She attended Wheaton College in Norton, MA, and graduated with a BA in English and summa cum laude College Honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she was named the Outstanding Graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences, the winner of the Jacob Van Ek Award, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa's University of Colorado chapter.
