Biography
Marcos Vieyra is the Chief Information Security Officer for the University of South Carolina, where he guides the continued development of a progressive and comprehensive IT security and information privacy strategy that focuses on education and prevention through partnerships and consultation with senior leadership, the Offices of the General Counsel and Law Enforcement, and IT leaders throughout the USC System.
Marcos began his higher education IT career at the University of South Carolina in 2001, where he also eventually earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. Since moving to a full time information security role in 2004, Marcos has earned and maintained current the following certifications: GSLC, GSNA, GCIH, G2700, CISSP, and CIPP/IT. In an effort to give back to the community that has been extremely helpful throughout his higher education career, Marcos is actively involved with EDUCAUSE, where he currently serves as the co-chair of the Higher Education Information Security CouncilâÂÂs Technologies, Operations and Practices Working Group.
