Mary L. Pretz-Lawson is Director of the Planning and Project Management Office in Computing Services at Carnegie Mellon. Since 2003, Mary L. has established the strategies, policies, tools and procedures needed to enhance the planning and project management services and operational representation of division services provided to Computing Services and University constituencies. Mary L. also serves as a member of the Senior Management Team, setting direction for Computing Services and working collaboratively to achieve the division’s goals. She supports the Vice Provost’s Office in strategizing and planning new and large-scale initiatives to meet the University’s needs. Mary L. facilitates the development and updating of the Computing Services’ strategic plan and monitors progress towards those defined initiatives.

Between 1985 and 2002, Mary L. was responsible for university voice services. From 1998 to 2002, she coordinated division wide product releases in DSL, Voice over IP, and wireless LAN service.

Mary L. received her bachelor¹s degree in psychology from Muhlenberg College and her masters in social work and public administration from the University of Pittsburgh. She is active in EDUCAUSE as a presenter, in the project management constituent group, and formerly on the regional conference program committee. She is a member of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Project Management Institute and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Previous professional activities include Carnegie Mellon¹s Diversity Advisory Council and the Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education (ACUTA).
