Mary Glackin is an Instructional Technology Consultant at Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA, in a hybrid team that serves the research library, educational technology, and information literacy needs of the campus. Over the past year, she has served as one of the project coordinators for the campus course management system conversion from WebCT to Sakai. Recent projects include planning and chairing, with Michael Hanrahan of Bates College, the 2006 - 2008 NITLE-funded Bioinformatics Retreat for biology, computer science and math faculty to foster the integration of bioinformatics in undergraduate curricula; chairing the 2005 study group exploring learning management system options for Mount Holyoke; and co-directing the 2005 NITLE-funded workshop to teach Maya animation software to faculty and staff from NITLE colleges. Mary's projects include developing an OS X Macintosh-based molecular modeling laboratory for chemistry in 2003; the development of a local math assessment for incoming students in WebCT and conversion to Moodle and Sakai; ongoing development and implementation of support strategies for departmental teaching and research computing facilities; and the ongoing development of image databases for teaching in biology and geology. Mary previously served as coordinator for the student web technology consultants, a peer-to-peer teaching group providing web development and software training to students.
Mary holds a Ph.D in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Wesleyan University, CT. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Biology and Chemistry and has research experience and publications in biochemistry and computational biophysics.
