Melissa serves as the Vice Provost for Information Services and Chief Information Officer at the University of Oregon.

She previously worked for the central IT organizations at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to working in the IT realm, Melissa worked in the field of health physics.

Melissa, recipient of the EDUCAUSE 2012 Rising Star Award, is a Frye Leadership Institute Fellow. She serves as a Senior Reviewer for EDUCAUSE Review Online, served on the EDUCAUSE 2012 Conference Program Committee, and was a member of the EDUCAUSE Professional Development Advisory Committee, including a year as committee chair.

Additionally, Melissa is a member of the advisory board for the Center for Higher Education Chief Information Officer Studies (CHECS), a member of the InCommon Steering Committee, and is the incoming co-chair for the Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC) Executive Council. She completed her PhD in Biophysics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her Bachelor's degree in Biophysics at the University of California, Berkeley.
