Biography

I currently develop, manage, and implement a strategic technology plan for the division of Financial Affairs at The University of Alabama. My department provides infrastructure and application development and support for a division of more than 1,000 employees. Our data center houses more than 75 physical and virtual servers hosting several large scale business applications. Some of my primary responsibilities include disaster recovery/business continuity planning, security best practices, overseeing daily IT operations, acquisition of hardware and software, as well as managing the overall project portfolio for the division.

Some of my accomplishments while at The University of Alabama include:
• Led and implemented a complete organizational restructuring to create a more customer centric IT department and provide knowledge depth throughout the organization.
• Worked with numerous cloud providers to implement Software as a Service (SaaS) models for the campus community.
• Assisted in the restructuring and stabilization of the University of Alabama at Huntsville enterprise IT department.
• Serve as an adjunct Faculty member for the University Of Alabama School Of Business teaching Business Strategy to senior level management students.
• Implemented a virtual server and data storage environment to increase data center operational efficiency and reduce infrastructure costs.
• Implemented Blackboard Transact at the University of Alabama at Huntsville.
• Implemented an enterprise wide budget planning system.
• Built a state of the art data center featuring maximum energy efficiencies and high redundancy.
• Implemented email management tools that include offsite archiving, advanced ESI search capabilities, and redundant email services.
• Implemented SharePoint 2007 to be used as an intranet/team collaboration tool.
• Implemented an enterprise wide Facilities system including work order management, Facility Condition Assessment, Fixed Assets, Property, and Space data.
• Developed a three year Strategic Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plan for the division. Formed and led a Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Steering Committee.
• Developed policies and procedures related to security, government compliance, and email management.
• Implemented a project management tracking tool along with establishing project management standards and methodologies.
• Implemented an enterprise wide automated Time and Attendance System.
• Implemented a disk based backup strategy to streamline data center efficiency and reduce costs.
