Nancy Wozniak

Biography

Nancy Wozniak joined Teaching, Learning + Technology in Fall 2008 to become Stony Brook’s first Learning Architect in The Faculty Center where she consults with faculty on the planning and design of courses and effective course management methods. Nancy also is the ePortfolio Program Manager for the university. She received her Master's degree in Education, specializing in Instructional Technology, from the University of Akron. She holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Hiram College, and studied television production and communication at Lorain County Community College Nancy has worked as an instructional and multimedia designer, educational technologist, and online learning coordinator for more than 14 years, and was dubbed the Wizard of Woz in her previous academic positions. She has taught online and traditional courses in leadership, computer applications, instructional design, multimedia design, communication, and business. Her experience with community and continuing education includes the development of a Web 2.0 series for promoting business and multimedia design for small business. She currently instructs a course for eportfolio design and personal branding using Web 2.0 technologies. Previously, Nancy worked in broadcast news as a graphic artist and a producer/ program manager in public/government access television. Currently, she is documenting future technology trends and challenges in Distance Learning and the pedagogy of the use of technologies in the distance and traditional classroom. Her research also includes the use of eportfolios and the Self- Determination Theory to promote lifelong learning. Nancy produces the Innovations in Education television show hosted by Executive Producer, Graham Glynn, Assistant Provost and Executive Director of Teaching, Learning and Technology. She also hosts the Profiles in Education Innovations blog and The Faculty Center's Fan Page on Twitter and Facebook. She uses Web. 2.0 social networks to promote and encourage the model design and use of student and teaching eportfolios.
