Patrio Chiu

Biography

Dr. Patrio Chiu is a Senior Education Development Officer at the City University of Hong Kong - Office of Education Development and Gateway Education (EDGE). He received his B.Eng.(Hons), M.Eng., and Ph.D., in Electrical Engineering, in 2000, 2002 and 2006 respectively at McGill University, Canada. He was named on the Dean’s Honour List at McGill University and the Dean’s Scholars at Queen’s University. He worked in the R&D industry and served in the Canadian Space Agency. In 2014, he received a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PgD.Ed.) from the Hong Kong Institute of Education. He has taught Physics and Engineering at City University of Hong Kong - Department of Physics and Materials Science and University of Hong Kong - School of Professional and Continuing Education. Before joining the office of EDGE, he was a College Lecturer in Engineering. He is the course leader of an institutionalized teaching & learning course for all Graduate Teaching Assistants: SG8001-Teaching Students: First Steps at CityU since 2011. He is one of the key persons to establish the GE Laboratory, an active learning space, and equipped it with state-of-the-art educational technology. He also assists in administrating the GE programme at CityU and is a Member in Attendance of the Gateway Education Programme Committee (GEPC). He is interested in the research area of technology-enhanced learning.
