Biography
Dr. Peter J. Murray has been the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore since January 2002. He oversees the Center for Information Technology Services, which develops and maintains enterprise systems and technologies for the University. Dr. Murray is also responsible for overseeing and coordinating campus-wide information technology, including policies, committees, and the overall strategy for the University. Dr. Murray was the Vice Provost for Information Technologies and Chief Information Officer at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., serving as the CIO from October 1995 to January 2002. In 1992, he was hired by Catholic University as the Director of Planning and in 1995 was appointed the Universitys first CIO. From 1985 to 1992, he worked for the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Policy Analysis at the State University of New York Central Administration where he was responsible for managing and coordinating institutional planning, research and information systems projects for the sixty-four colleges and universities in the State University of New York system. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from the State University of New York at Albany, a Certificate of Advanced Standing from SUNY Albany, and a Master's of Science from SUNY Plattsburgh. Dr. Murray received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Middlebury College.
