Biography

Rob Moore is a lead instructional designer with the School of Government Instructional Support team and has worked at UNC since 2004. He joined the Instructional Support team in September 2010 after spending 5 years managing the UNC Foreign Language Resource Center. Rob holds a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from UNC and has completed various trainings and certificates in distance learning, including the LEARN NC Online Instructor course. He was a 2010 Center for Faculty Excellence Future Faculty Fellow and has received the School of Government Certificate in Municipal and County Administation. He is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Instructional Technology through East Carolina University with an expected graduation date of Summer 2013.

In his current position, Rob collaborates with faculty on integrating innovative technology to support their instruction in both face-to-face and online environments. One of Rob’s primary responsibilities is providing consultations to faculty members on their instructional needs from projects as small as creating a graphic for a PowerPoint presentation to as complex as developing a multi-module, self-paced online training program. Rob served as the lead instructional designer for the North Carolina State Ethics Training Online program which was completed in December 2008 and provides two hours of ethics training to over 5,000 public servants and legislative employees each year.

Rob has presented at local, state and national conferences on topics including transitioning face-to-face courses to online courses and the UNC Romance Languages Sakai Pilot that transitioned over 6,000 undergraduates from Blackboard to multi-section Sakai umbrella course sites. He has also developed self-paced e-learning modules and facilitated webinars on teaching technologies and best practices including Qualtrics, Adobe Presenter and PowerPoint.
