Biography
Rocco Piro is the Director of IT in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He has been working with technology at the University since 1988 and has also been teaching technology -based courses since 1997. In his role as director he oversees academic, research and administrative computing services within the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Faculty is very unique in that it encompasses a School of Medicine, a School of Nursing, a School of Rehabilitation Sciences and eleven academic and clinical departments each with varied and distinct technology needs. He works collaboratively with other technology service providers within the University and within the local and regional teaching hospitals. Current projects underway include a CV management database system, clinical simulation lab, synchronous and asynchronous e- technology implementation and IT risk mitigation planning.
