Shaya Fidel

Biography

Shaya Fidel is a graduate student at Stanford University, getting her Masters in Social Psychology. Her research interests include motivation and behavioral decision-making, particularly within the higher education space. More specifically, her research focuses on how technology can be leveraged to enhance learning outcomes through the principles of active learning. Shaya is currently working as a consultant with Top Hat Monocle, a classroom response system. She interacts with professors regarding their implementation of mobile technology in their classroom, collecting data, culling feedback, and helping design best practices. She is investigating the differential impact tools offered by mobile devices have on retention, comprehension, and engagement. The tools she is focusing include live polls and quizzes in the classroom, gamification of quizzes/classroom tournaments, interactive simulations and demonstrations, and real-time feedback on lecture content and delivery.
