Biography

Sonia Chaidez is the Instructional Technologist at Whittier College. She works as part of faculty development to drive the effective integration of technology to enhance teaching and learning. She builds programming and projects that blend pedagogy with digital technologies. She provides specialized instruction, advice, and guidance in the application of educational tools and makes policy recommendations to management regarding instructional technology initiatives.  Sonia also teaches digital storytelling to engage students in higher order thinking, deep learning, and to build digital literacy skills.  Her research, teaching, and learning interests include story maps, wearable technologies, and augmented reality tools as part of digital pedagogy and digital humanities projects.  From 2013-2017 she helped to build the Digital Liberal Arts Program at Whittier College. Sonia is also a filmmaker that has made documentary films for the social sciences in Mexico, Cuba, Syria and Iraq. @soniachaidez soniachaidez.com
