Stan MacDonald

Biography

Stan MacDonald has served as the IT Director for ELS Educational Services for over 13 years. He has a Master's degree in Applied and Mathematical Statistics from Rutgers University in NJ and spent 20 years in the biopharm/biotech industry. During this time he also managed research IT operations and made a full-time transition to IT upon joining ELS. ELS operates 56 language centers throughout the US, most of them located on university campuses and also has operations in China, Vietnam, India, Turkey and Australia. All centers are equipped with Learning Technology Centers; i.e., student laboratories, the use of which is incorporated into ELS' curriculum. ELS mission is to provide high-level English language instruction, primarily to international students, many seeking admission to US universities, and has developed a student information system specifc to ELS' needs. The system includes a sophisticated SEVIS component, as almost all ELS students require student visas ito enter the US and study. ELS also has an International Pathways initiative to counsel and assist internationals students desiring admission to US institutions. Among IT's objectives are to maintain and enhance ELS' computing infrastructure and systems to best serve the interests of our students, partners and employees.
