Steph Roberts

Biography

Stephani Roberts is an internal accessibility consultant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where she has worked for the last 9 years evaluating web projects from initial design concepts through to the coded site. She has over 15 years experience in IT working in academia, several start-ups, and as a front end and multi-media developer for WGBH Interactive. She holds a BS in New Media and Film from Emerson College and is currently pursuing her M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Educational Technology. Primary technical resource on web accessibility and standards for campus community. Promoting and auditing web accessibility standards and universal design principles. Work in tandem with Usability team to provide leadership in web community related to standards compliance and best practices. Develop resources such as web pages, code samples, handouts, demonstrations, and best practices related W3C standards and access. Research and recommend tools to equip the MIT community with simple solutions to solve accessibility challenges such as captioning and transcripts for community video content.
