As the Head of the Planning and Project Management Office and Associate Director for Computing Services Carnegie Mellon University, Tom Dugas plays an important role in leading a number of organizations in the Computing Services organization including: Project Management, Service Management, Communication and Documentation Services, Web Services, Application Services, and Education Services. Additionally, Tom is responsible for building collaboration and partnerships with our Distributed Technology Groups within Carnegie Mellon and oversees the coordination of Computing Services' Student Information Exchange.

Tom currently serves as co-lead of the Educause Higher Education IT Organization's Cloud Computing Constituent group. Tom is also an active member of Internet2 Cloud Services Working Group(CSWG) and also the ECAR Cloud Total Cost of Ownership(TCO) Working Group. He has also been serving for the last 4 years on the Greater Pittsburgh CIO and Executive IT Summit Advisory Board. Tom is an alumnus of the 2009 Frye Leadership Institute and the 2006 Educause Institute Leadership Program. Tom has served on the 2011 Educause Mid Atlantic Conference Committee as the Leadership and Strategic Thinking Track Lead, and a member of the Educause EDUComment Task Force.

Recent efforts Tom has been involved in include the implementation of a new IT Service Management (ITSM) Solution and a new Web Content Management System. Tom also has helped to implement a faculty review system, regulatory compliance conflict of interest application, and the upgrade of the enterprise document management solution. Tom has been very involved in University/Community partnership through the Carnegie Mellon Community Connections initiative often working closely with CIO's from the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.

Tom completed a Master's of Science in Communications and Information Systems from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also hold s Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Robert Morris University with dual-majors in Accounting and Management Information System.
