Biography
As the Associate Director for Global IT Services at Carnegie Mellon University, Tom Dugas plays an important role in leading the Global IT Services Directorate which is part of the Central Computing Services Division. In his role, Tom is responsible for overseeing front-line services and support organizations including: the Desktop Support Program(DSP), the Communication and Documentation Department, and the Computing Help Center at Carnegie Mellon. Additionally, Tom is responsible for building collaboration and partnerships with our Distributed Technology Groups within Carnegie Mellon and oversees the coordination of Computing Services' Student Information Exchange.
Tom currently serves as co-lead of the Educause Higher Eductation IT Organization's Cloud Computing Constituent group. Tom is an alumnus of the 2009 Frye Leadership Institute and the 2006 Educause Institute Leadership Program. Tom has served on the 2011 Educause Mid Atlantic Conference Committee as the Leadership and Strategic Thinking Track Lead, a member of the Educause EDUComment Task Force, and a member of the Greater Pittsburgh CIO and Executive IT Forum Advisory Council.
Recent efforts Tom has been involved in include the implementation of a faculty review system, regulatory compliance conflict of interest application, and the upgrade of a enterprise document management solution. Tom is a member of the Carnegie Mellon Computer Steering Committee and also the chair for the Professional Development Team in the Community Connections Committee which is a joint partnership between local/state government and Carnegie Mellon University.
Tom completed a Masters of Science in Communications and Information Systems from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also hold s Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Robert Morris University with dual-majors in Accounting and Management Information System.
