Biography
Tom Lewis directs Academic & Collaborative Applications for University of Washington Information Technology. His group advances teaching, learning, and research by investigating computing trends, identifying user needs, and innovating technology solutions. The unit implements and integrates the UWâs online tools, open source and vendor solutions, and cloud services, including online course delivery tools, research technologies, email and calendaring solutions, Web publishing and collaboration tools, and the University portal. Tom oversees a staff that includes software, QA, and Web engineers, User Experience, graphic and Web designers, technical writers and editors, and research scientists. He also coordinates campus-wide or multi-unit projects to integrate technology with teaching and research, including a partnership with UW's eScience Institute (http://escience.washington.edu). He is a recovering political scientist.
