Zach Loch

Biography

Zach Loch serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer of East Carolina University.  As CIO, Zach is responsible for an IT organization of over 200 staff and a $38M IT budget, sets the vision and direction of technology initiatives and programs at ECU, and ensures technology alignment to support the university mission, maintain IT operational excellence, and lead innovation on campus.

 Zach has been at ECU since 2007, serving as a software developer, the IT Director of Enterprise Information Systems, and as CIO since December 2020.  Prior to his time at ECU Zach worked as a principle software lead at Lockheed Martin and has broad exposure to a variety of industries including healthcare, insurance, telecom, nonprofits, government services/contracting, and higher education.

 Zach received his Master’s in Business Administration and Bachelor’s in Computer Science from East Carolina University.  Zach is an East Carolina University Chancellor’s Leadership Academy Fellow, and received the Special Recognition Award at Lockheed Martin for Innovation and Performance.
