Given limited resources and time, the introduction of new technologies for teaching and learning can be difficult. Collaborative learning can address this challenge. At Seton Hall University, students worked together online to create original learning materials in Second Life, develop a wiki for scientific/technical writing, and develop digital stories about the writing process. At George Mason University, cross-disciplinary faculty learning communities offered a way to provide sustainable faculty development in integrating technologies in pedagogically appropriate ways to teach discipline-based writing. The presenters will describe the collaborations, the lessons learned, and the impact on teaching and learning.
