Creating and Assessing Learning Within Virtual Online Worlds

Session Type: Poster Session
This session will provide examples of effective lessons and assessments designed to make use of 3-D virtual worlds, including Second Life and Blue Mars. Examples will come from a variety of subject areas, and a general description of the types of projects and learning activities that integrate well with this technology will also be introduced. Discussion of assessment techniques, including example rubrics and information such as benefits and caveats about using virtual worlds in teaching, will be provided.
